My 3100 could go up to 4.4 GHz on an MSI X570 Gaming Plus motherboard. It could match the i7-7700k in multithreaded and single threaded performance at 4.2 GHz.

This little CPU has been worth every penny. I'm almost always GPU bound and it doesn't stutter or lose frames too often. Edit: After some tinkering with overclocking I've got it to 4.2 Ghz at 1.3v, peaks at 80°C during stress tests, but sits around 70°C during gaming. Need a better cooler but the stock cooler will do for now.

For what it is, this thing has proved to be a mini horse. It may not have the power of the big boys but for a 1080p 60hz build, this is an amazing chipset. Mine OCed to 4.3GHz on all core with little difficulty.
Would give 5 star's if not for the huge difference in the CCX of the 3100 and the 3300x. Get the 3300x if it is available. It wasn't at the time of buying when I got this one.
