Description

This build works tremendously. It is fast, and has very good performance. Running games like minecraft at 110 plus fps. It really is good and i had no trouble putting it all together. Love the case very spacious and great air flow (being a Cooler Master and all). Also fairly low amount of wattage which is always a plus.

Really bad build choices and below is why. 1. Locked CPU not able to overclock 2. aftermarket cooler for overclocking - meaningless with a locked CPU 3. extremely overpriced motherboard that is meant for overclocking 4. Unless you are doing heavy multitasking while gaming you wont use 8GB of RAM let alone 16GB so Windows 7 PRO is uneeded and 7 HOME OEM for $99 would work perfectly. Good changes with the above would have been able to give you a system with a Overclockable CPU, PSU that will allow you to upgrade to Crossfire, and a GPU that would be worth Crossfiring later. Wasted utilities on the Motherboard and CPU cooler and RAM.

I ended up returning the cpu cooler and the reason i didnt get the k is because i was trying to keep a budget. But anyway i will probably make the changes in the near future. this is my first build so thanks for the critique.

That confuses me about you say "you didn't get the k because trying to keep a budget" and yet $200+ motherboard is meant for overclocking which you can't do. Here is a balanced build, future proofed for upgrading RAM, going Crossfire, and so on if you choose to do so yet this build will be more powerful and cost within $4 of your build.

or this :

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/np3D slightly ugprade of GPU from your build, yet drastic upgrade in storage SSD and HDD. But the first one I linked is only $4 difference yet gives you a top end GPU ;)

I'm sure your build works great but when someone says "working within a budget" and then throw uneeded money on items that wont improve the performance of your computer, 16GB RAM, $200 motherboard, they wont be utilized, You put your budget into wrong items if thats the case.

I didn't take my time on the first few builds - This one is even better and if you had a little extra within "this budget" you could upgrade the GPU even further and still be around what you spent or cheaper.

Well you could have gone for the Home OEM and gotten the i-5 2500k or 3570k. Save another 40 bucks on RAM. 8 gigs is only 40$ and should never be more than 40$. You over payed on the HDD too. With the saved money from the OEM and RAM you could have gotten a better SSD, and a better HDD. Plus the i-5 2500k. With a budget of almost 1200$ you made the worst of it. Sorry. By the way, you can't call your first time thing "Best." It needs lots of practice. (I feel like a butt.)

Nice job, but I think this is a perfect example of why people need to RESEARCH their parts and budget through google and forums. For your price range you could have gotten a much much better rig than this for gaming, just my opinion.

I suggest you go onto youtube and look up linus tech tips who also works for NCIX and hosts their YT channel at NCIXcom, he's great and explains all the dos and donts, he isn't the only one, there's Tiny Tom Logan from overclock3D, Elric Phares from Tech of tomorrow (but you'll want to watch the videos on monterboardsorg channel which he no longer has access to as of recent) and also newegg has their own YT channel at neweggtv

Don't forget Tek syndicate on http://www.youtube.com/user/razethew0rld they are one of my favorite channels and they have build guides every so often.

I assume, this is an old build from a while ago? I sure hope this isn't a build you just built...because, you wasted alot of money.

I don't get how you were "trying to keep a budget" but felt the need to drop 200 on a motherboard?

Not bad but why would you buy a case that doesn't allow really any cable management?

Similar to my build. You should be fine. I don't think you'll catch any crap for any of the parts that you chose. Good job.

As far as i know no one mentioned minecraft (i know you did in the description). While it is true that even minecraft isn't that memory heavy its still one of the most memory heavy games iv'e played so if your gonna say, host a minecraft server 16 gigs of ram will work great.

oh also i need some feedback on my build that i'm doing for under $400 http://pcpartpicker.com/b/yvs

16 GB of RAM? Eh, if you want to use a lot of TNT in Minecraft, but you have to dedicate that RAM or it won't be used. That much RAM is useless in any other game. $200 for a mobo? Why, you could get great ones for ?$150. Remember, only if you want to dedicate RAM to MC is it useful, and even then, 8 is plenty.

im currently running a server with about 25-30 friends of mine so the ram really helps. i also plan on upgrading this system significantly after i finish my internship. really this is a hobby that i want to follow and probably make a business out of. The programming im doing is also pretty intense and because im running a server at the same time it can be pretty stressful on the system.

Use those zip ties to neaten up a bit. I don't see why everyone is saying you should have gotten different parts and everything instead of mentioning stuff you could fix now for free.

Dude, Theres no point in putting Overclocked parts into your computer the higher you go with overclock the more likly your computer is to explode.

This would've been a much better build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/npDz You got an unlocked processor with a super expensive overclocking motherboard. Even if you were overclocking, a cheaper one would've been fine. Second, you got way more ram than you should've. Win 7 Pro is also a huge waste of money. Do you even know what the features are in it over Home Premium? That case is also terrible, the HAF 912, or NZXT Source would've been much better choices. Also, in the build I did for you I even managed to fit in a 7950, which is WAY more powerful than the 7850.
